In order to physically interpret the observations of exoplanet atmospheres, we must compare observations with theoretical predictions. To do this, we have produced highly sophisticated models of the atmospheres, allowing us to better understand the physical nature of the world in question.
UCL’s Atmospheric Physics Laboratory is dedicated to developing the most accurate and sophisticated models of atmospheres possible. These models have been used extensively in studying the atmosphere of the Earth, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn and are now being applied to the myriad of extrasolar worlds being found.
