Module Outline

This seminar will focus on questions of women, gender, and sexuality in post socialist Eastern Europe. Our discussion will begin by mapping readings of gender and sexuality onto socialist ideology and practice, and expand by looking at how the political transformations of the past three decades has shifted those debates. In particular, the seminar will be geared towards thinking about contemporary debates on gender and sexuality. The readings will draw from theory, ethnography, and case studies to understand the changing nature of discourses on gender and sexuality and their relationship to post socialist politics.
