Professor Jon Butterworth, Head of Physics and Astronomy, is delighted to announce the Physics & Astronomy Department Gala Dinner on Friday 23 October 2015.

The Gala Dinner aims to bring together our alumni, students and staff for a celebration of what has fundamentally made this Department a success- you!

Date: Friday 23 October 2015

Location: Ambassadors, Bloomsbury. Further details will be included in your e-ticket upon confirmation of your booking.

Price: £45 per person, inclusive of a welcome drink, three-course dinner with wine, coffee and petites fours.

Booking closes: Friday 26 September 2015

Dress code: Smart

Places available: 48 Alumni, 27 Students, 20 Staff, guests are welcome

4pm - 5pm: Lecture

5pm - 6pm: Drinks Reception


6.30pm: Welcome speech by Professor Jon Butterworth (Head of Department) followed by the student awards ceremony


7.15pm: Dinner service


9.15pm: After- dinner speech by Professor R S Ellis FRS. Professor Ellis is about to return as Professor to his alma mater UCL from his current position as the Steele Professor of Astronomy at the California Institute of Technology (CALTECH)

Bocconcini mozzarella salad with vine cherry tomatoes, basil and olives (v)

Scottish smoked salmon with keta caviar, creme fraiche and lemon

Main Courses

Roast corn-fed chicken with ballotine sun-dried tomato quinoa, roast pepper and olive stew

Salmon with tender steam broccoli, French beans, lemon and salsa Verde

Butternut squash parcels with walnut sauce and rocket salad (v)

Desserts

Almond and peach tart with clotted ice-cream

Coconut and vanilla pod pannacotta with mango sorbet and ginger snap biscuit

Expressions of interest are kindly requested by Friday 14 August 2015. Nominal places will be reserved for these people, but you will still need to book through the official system once it opens.
