UCL Occupational Health Service: Mental Health Awareness Week 12-18 May

6 May 2014

The Mental Health Foundation is the UK's leading mental health research, policy and service improvement charity.

Their evidence based approach helps to recognise the key issues affecting the nation's mental health and wellbeing. This year the focus in Mental Health Awareness Week is anxiety, one of the leading causes of mental ill -health in the world. Everyone has feelings of anxiety at some point in their life which is perfectly normal. However, people with anxiety disorders such as Generalised anxiety disorder (GAD) find it hard to control their worries.

UCL recognises that university staff battling anxiety may find it difficult to get the support they need. Trying to remain focused on work priorities, meeting pressing deadlines can be stressful and challenging.

Coaching is a method used as a powerful development tool that enables staff to enhance the impact they have in their areas of work and/or discipline; The Organisational Development Team in Human Resources can assist staff and departments in planning and arranging development programmes that support improved individual, team and organisational effectiveness.
