Guidance from NICE
The following items of guidance issued from NICE & other agencies may be of relevance to patients attending NHNN, based on ‘Summary of Guidance’ for England and Wales.
There is a high likelihood that the procedures, techniques or drugs are being
used or in consideration at NHNN, or because patients may pass through NHNN with
an intercurrent problem which will need ongoing clinical attention. Although
primarily a neuroscience centre, the list has been compiled knowing that there
are other specialities represented on this site (e.g. endocrinology,
gastro-enterology, intensive care, metabolic medicine, ophthalmology, psychiatry
and urology).
We have tried to categorise the guidance by relevance, but the categories are
not exclusive. Please use the list to consider which pieces of guidance are
relevant to your unit, and advise the Clinical Audit and Effectiveness Committee
what action you are taking. It is anticipated that you will be considering using
clinical audit as a tool to explore compliance with guidance, and
multi-professional engagement (possibly with patient involvement) to discuss
implications.
