Module 2
The Recordkeeping Perspective
The purpose of this module is:
- To outline the position of the recordkeeper.
- To examine electronic records and their differences and similarities
with the paper world.
- To look at life cycle models.
- To examine the concepts of intellectual control, administrative
control and physical control.
- To introduce the relationship of records to business processes,
both primary and secondary; the function and role of information;
and the significance of form and content.
- To examine the concepts of 'record-keeping system', 'record-keeping
function' and 'archival function'.
- To look at the importance of context and metadata.
- To set the framework for the following three modules
