Pilots
The e-TERM draft curriculum was tested in a number of pilot projects
during 2001.
A week-long pilot programme was held at University College London
between 30 July and 3 August 2001. In this pilot the e-TERM course
was delivered face-to-face to an invited group of participants chosen
to represent administrators, computing specialists, archivists and
records managers from both the public and private sectors. The course
leaders were Catherine Hare and Julie McLeod from the University
of Northumbria at Newcastle and Margaret Crockett and Geoffrey Yeo
from University College London. The participants came from all parts
of the United Kingdom and also from Portugal.
e-TERM was also piloted in summer 2001 in Germany, using a different
delivery method and to a more closely focussed audience. In the
German pilot programme, which was run by Volker Schockenhoff and
Kerstin Witzke of the Fachhochschule in Potsdam, the e-TERM course
was delivered by distance learning to a group of archivists with
specific professional interests in the management of electronic
records.
The intention of the e-TERM partners is to pilot the draft curriculum
in a variety of learning environments and to a variety of audiences,
in order to ensure that the course has the widest possible applicability.
The results of the pilot projects are now being assessed with a
view to modifying the draft curriculum where necessary.
