BAME Awarding Gap Funded Projects

The BAME Awarding Gap Fund provides intervention projects up to £25,000 each, over a three-year period.

The BAME Awarding Gap Fund has been established to provide annual funding for intervention projects aimed at the elimination of awarding gaps between UK domiciled Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) and White undergraduate students.

The Office of the Vice-President (Advancement) has contributed £250k to establish the Fund as part of a project to address the disparities in outcomes and experience of undergraduate BAME and white students at UCL.

Up until March 2022 staff could bid for up to £25,000 per project over a three-year period, which could be used to buy out staff-time or fund student internships to implement interventions. Funded projects met several criteria, including:

Measurable outcomes focused on closing the awarding gap
Student-centred
Evidence-based
Scalable
Intervention focused
Potential impact beyond the project lifecycle
Forward the commitments of UCL's Access and Participation Plan 2020/21-2024/25 and support strategic aims of UCL 2034
