I am always on the look out for students to undertake post graduate research within the structures group at UCL. Studentships are available to finance well qualified applicants.

I am currently interested in dynamic testing and updating of structures. In particular correlating experimental and analytical data where the experimental data varies due to loading and deformation of the structure.

I have also got a strong practical interest in the use of bender elements in soil testing. These instruments are used to measure the small strain shear stiffness of soil. At UCL we are working towards creating an automated testing system where the current practice requires rather subjective analysis.
