Educational Background: Raju holds a Master's degree in Technical Cybernetics, which he received in 1996 from the University of Stuttgart, Germany.
Current Research Project: Since October 1996 Raju works on the project "Virtual Environment based on Multi-Sensor Integration for improved ROV Control". The aim of the project is to improve the efficiency and utilization of remotely operated vehicles (ROV's) in the offshore industry by generating a virtual environment in order to simplify navigation and manipulation tasks for the ROV operator. The proposed sensory system to perceive the real world environment consists of a combined optical and acoustical imaging system and should be able to identify a set of simple known objects such as the sea bottom, a pipeline and simple underwater steel structures.
