Access and Widening Participation

UCL Informed Futures

UCL Informed Futures is a series of online events aimed at equipping secondary school students and their parent/carers with the knowledge and confidence to succeed in their next steps in education.

Post it notes

Do you have questions about your next steps in education, such as how to prepare for your GCSEs or your options after finishing Year 11? Are you a parent/carer unsure about how best to support your young person in their education? Are you wondering whether university is an affordable option for you?

Join us for a series of interactive online events, with separate sessions for students and parents/carers, where we will help you to answer these questions and many more.

Please see below for details of the sessions offered. Please note, to maximise attendance we will be running each session on two different dates. For any session that you are interested in attending you should only apply for one date.

What to expect

Sessions will be hosted online on Microsoft Teams and will last for 1 hour. For safeguarding purposes attendees will not be visible and only the presenters will be seen and heard. Audience participation will be encouraged through interactive elements such as games and quizzes and you will have the chance to ask questions through the chat function.

Our events and activities are funded by UCL's Access and Participation Plan. In order to be eligible to apply you or your young person must be attending a state school in the UK. Please see here for more details on our eligibility criteria.

Please note, some sessions are only available for students in specific target year groups. This is to ensure the content is suitable for the age and educational stage of participants. Please only apply to sessions that are open to your current year group. Applications from students outside of the target year groups specified will not be successful.

If you would like to attend any of these sessions you will need to apply through the online form below. There are separate forms for students and parent/carers. You are welcome to apply to more than one session, but all applications should be made within a single form.

Applications will close a week prior to each event and any applications submitted after this point will unfortunately not be seen. We will let you know whether you have been successful in your application approximately 5 days before the event and will provide the relevant joining instructions.

Please note, all young people who attend our online events are expected to adhere to our Code of Conduct.
