Job description

The purpose of this job is to support teaching and learning in our first year modules, working with the module convenors to deliver small group teaching to students in the History Department.

Main duties of the post are tutorial class teaching, regular meetings with the module convenor, provision of feedback to students, provision of weekly office hours, attendance reporting, coursework assessment and examination marking.
This core teaching in the 2024/25 academic session will be delivered face to face in a classroom setting (though in-year changes may be necessary). PGTAs are expected to be able to commit to be present on the Bloomsbury campus during the teaching terms.

Key responsibilities

  • Teaching assistance through the facilitation of seminars and/or workshops
  • Class preparation and meeting with lecturers/module organisers
  • After-class contact time with students, including time-tabled office hours
  • Marking students' work
  • Giving feedback to students

Requirements for role

Applicants must have excellent organisational and time management skills, proficiency with online teaching platforms, ability to teach face to face, ability to tutor and support year 1 undergraduate students on the relevant modules, and an enthusiasm for teaching.
