Job description

The purpose of this job is to support undergraduate and postgraduate students in the department with Academic Skills, namely reading, notetaking, writing and incorporating feedback for assignments in anthropology. 

Main duties of the post are running in-person sessions throughout term 1 & 2 on Academic Skills such as ‘Reading and Notetaking’, ‘Writing for Anthropology’ and ‘Incorporating Feedback’ for UG and PG students as well holding in-person office hours each week, including reading weeks in Terms 1 and 2.
 
Administrative duties will include updating and recording online materials for Moodle, updating Moodle pages and communicating with students at induction week and via Moodle throughout the year. Some ad hoc activities or office hours may also be scheduled in Term 3.

Key responsibilities

  • After-class contact time with students, including time-tabled office hours
  • Teaching assistance through the facilitation of seminars and/or workshops
  • Class preparation and meeting with lecturers/module organisers

Requirements for role

PGTAs must be working towards a relevant postgraduate research degree (PhD).
We ideally aim to appoint one Tutor with a background in Medical and/or Biological Anthropology and one tutor with a background in Social and/or Material Culture.
