- During this week's session, you will work in groups of 4 using your knowledge of year 1 learners' literature to plan a day's activities for children to celebrate World Book Day.
You will then present your plan of activities to the whole group, with resources, referencing using Harvard style.

- The aim of the session is for Access to Education and Training learners to investigate the ways that events such as World Book Day could be used as a stimulus for creating learning activities to support and extend Year 1 learners' engagement with literature.

Find out/discover
All learners will find out about World Book Day by researching a variety of online sources, including video, news reports and websites evidenced by the ideas they bring to class to discuss.

Design
Most learners will combine insights from World Book Day resources with their understanding of Year 1 learners' literature to inform the design of a lesson plan for teaching Year 1 learners evidenced by the presentation of their lesson plan.

Assemble
Some learners will assemble a shared bank of resources for World Book Day activities evidenced by contributions to World Book Day Padlet.

Watch the video (5 mins). As you watch, make a note of techniques you could use to motivate the children to look at books – pause the video to make a note.

Follow the links to the online resources below and select at least two resources to read and take notes. In class you will share your ideas and plan activities for World Book Day. Make sure you make a note of the referencing information.
