1801 - 26th Jun 1863
Partner in Sir James Esdaile & Co. (q.v.), which stopped in 1837. Rees Goring Thomas had apparently been lent £20,000 by William Esdaile to allow him to take up the partnership.
The Goring Thomas family papers are in the National Library of Wales.
Baptised 26/05/1801 at St Clement Danes (son of Rees Goring Thomas I, whose will was proved 21/11/1821 PROB 11/1650). Two children with Caroline, Sarah Frances (1833) and George Gilbert Treherne (1838) were baptised at Tooting Graveney, Surrey. Died 26/06/1863 late of Iscoed in county of Carmathen, will proved by Rees Goring Thomas [III], effects under £30,000.
Rees Goring Thomas [III], 1st son of Rees Goring Thomas of Clapham Surrey arm., matriculated Christ Church 19/10/1842 aged 17, BA 1847, of Plas Llannon, JP, DL. Rees Goring Thomas [III] died 19/09/1887, letters of administration granted 10/01/1888, effects £14,392 16s 6d.
A memoir by George Gilbert Treherne Thomas, a local antiquarian, which appears in the Carmathenshire Historian, makes no reference to his father's business interests, perhaps understandably given that the family moved to Wales c. 1841 when G.G.T. Thomas was 4.
