Biography

The will of Philip White of St. George, Millwright was proved in Jamaica 14/10/1775. In it, he provided for the manumission of John White, a "sambo" child, son of a "negro" woman, who belonged to the estate of the deceased Henry Moon. He also bequeathed to John White £400 Jamaican currency. To Sarah Thomas, a "free mulatto woman" of St George, £15 per year "for her faithfull services".
