Sir Robert Ladbroke

???? - 1773

Biography

London banker, Lord Mayor (1747-48) and MP for London 1754-1773. He is identified in research commissioned by RBS and Citizens Financial in 2007 and 2009 as possibly having connections to slave-ownership, and in Parliamentary History Special Issue (2014) as a plantation owner (sourced to Gerrit P. Judd). To date his ownership has not been traced by LBS, although his son Robert Ladbroke was party to a deed of 1802 with Sir William Pulteney relating to an estate on Tobago.
