Born in Jamaica, the 1st son of William Henry Lyttelton, 1st Baron Lyttelton, and Mary, daughter and co-heir of James Macartney, MP, of Longford, co. Longford. He was the half-brother of Hon. William Henry Lyttelton. Succeeded his father as 2nd Baron Lyttleton, 14 September 1808. He never married. He appears to have been declared insane in or by 1804 though he recovered to some degree by 1811 but had a relapse in 1825.
Though an MP for Bewdley, succeeding his father who had been a Pitt supporter but made way for a friend of the family (Miles Peter Andrews) in 1796. 'He made no mark in the House.'
