Charles Douglas

???? - 1815

Biography

This appears to be the Charles Douglas for whom Robert Burns had agreed to work in Jamaica. In his will dated 1815 he reportedly left his property to his niece Jane, 'now Mrs Boswell', daughter of his brother Patrick Douglas of Garallan, Ayrshire. The inventory of his effects made in 1816 includes nineteen named 'Negroes' and household effects, but not sugar works.
