Biography

Registered 47 enslaved people in Berbice as owner 20/11/1817, and a further 13 'the property of John Layfield' on Plantation Manchester situate on the Correntyne Coast.

  1. This was possibly the father of Mary Ann Layfield, who in 1837 executed a power of attorney to George Nicholson of Nickerie and William Gordon of Paramaribo to recover property from William Frazer late of Berbice, executor of her father John Layfield.
