Returned slave-owner of Mauritius, apparently dying in England shortly after he made his will in late 1836.

  1. Will of William MacDowall Aikin otherwise William Aikin [a native of Scotland for many years a resident of Port Louis which place I finally quitted in November 1835 with the intention of taking up permanent abode and becoming domiciled in England, and now of Liverpool in the county of Lancaster] [made 14/11/1836] proved 03/05/1837. He left £5000 in trust for the children of his brother James Aikin of Liverpool, and his residuary estate in trust for the benefit of his natural children with Heloise Richard deceased, namely William, James and Margaret Aikin.
