Biography

Slave-owner on Barbados, buying an estate and enslaved people in Chancery on the eve of Emancipation and dying at Cheltenham in 1839 aged 62, the relict of Thos. Alsop.

  1. Will of Susanna Thompson Alsop of St Michael Barbados widow [made in 1835 an attested 1839] proved 26/04/1841. She left to her daughter Mary Thomas [sic] Drayton wife of Philip Drayton her estate Edgehill and the 'apprenticed labourers thereon' for life, and then to her [Mary Thomas Drayton's] children in whatever portion she determine. Administration of the will of Susanna Thompson Alsop formerly of Bentinck Street Manchester Square then of St Michael Barbados but late of Cheltenham left unadministered by Mary Thomas Drayton the universal legatee was granted to Rev. Philip Thomas Drayton the grandson 14/11/1853.
