Banker of Hammersley & Co. (q.v.) of Pall Mall, son of Thomas Hammersley (1777-1812) banker and partner in Morland, Rawson & Hammersley of St James's.

Banker to the slave-owner Harry Hackshaw (q.v.) of St Vincent.

NB According to Rubinstein, 'the bank was rumoured to be bankrupt at his death and stopped payment on 20 September 1840, but was soon taken over by Coutts & Co.'

Abode given as Pall Mall at the baptism of his son in 1825 and in the Electoral Register of 1839.
