John Lunan Wilkie, the grandson and namesake of John Lunan, was an Army officer in New South Wales for whom the Wilkie Memorial Church was built at Young, NSW after his death in 1862. 'The foundation stone of the first brick memorial Church of St John the Evangelist was laid on the 21st March 1865.' The church was known as the Wilkie Memorial Church until replaced in 1893. His widow contributed £500 of the £1500 cost and raised a further £300 after travelling to Britain to raise money.
