Portrait; full-length seated slightly to right, head tilted slightly to left and looking towards the viewer, elbows on the arms of his chair, wearing a dark suit and white frill; globe to left, table with books and a large scroll with a plan, to left; view beyond a column and parapet on the right, of a busy harbour.
