In 2019, UCL Laws introduced the UCL Laws LLB Opportunity Scholarship to support UK students in financial need to study Law at UCL.

Exceptionally for September 2020 entry, the Gamlen Charitable Trust has established an additional Rodney Stubblefield LLB Opportunity Scholarship. UCL Laws is also match-funding this generous contribution to supply an additional award for students entering the September 2020 cohort.

The LLB Opportunity Scholarships, including the one established by the Gamlen Charitable Trust, are intended to support UK students in financial need to study Law at UCL.

The value of each scholarship is £15,000 per year. The scholarship can be used towards tuition fees or maintenance costs, depending on the awardee's preference.

The Gamlen Charitable Trust has established the scholarship in memory of Rodney Stubblefield, a former Trustee who sadly passed away in 2018. Rodney previously studied at UCL, graduating in 1958. Together with UCL, the Trust established the scholarship to maintain his legacy and promote his passion for social equality in the legal sector. UCL Laws is match-funding the donation as part of our ongoing commitment to widening access to Higher Education, and is one of the numerous scholarship opportunities offered by the Faculty.

Eligible candidates must hold UK fee status; be in financial need and from a disadvantaged background as assessed by UCL; and hold an offer of admission to UCL to study a full-time undergraduate programme in the Faculty of Laws commencing in September 2020.
