Conversations about parental duties continue to be led by mothers, even if both parents earn the same amount of money, finds a new study by Dr Clare Stovell (IOE, UCL’s Faculty of Education & Society).

“It’s good in terms of keeping a number of schools open… As a parent, you’re not going to be too happy if you want to go to one school and they’re willing to take your child but can’t,” said Professor John Jerrim (UCL Social Research Institute), on proposed school reforms.

“I’d say it’s kind of completely at the heart of our experience. It provides us with a sense of our environment, a sense of ourselves a sense of others and objects in the world,” said Professor Carey Jewitt (IOE, UCL’s Faculty of Education and Society) on the importance of touch.

“The memory of school dinners is probably the most emotional legacy of our time at school,” said Professor Gary McCulloch (IOE, UCL's Faculty of Education & Society) on recollections of school meals.
