The event, hosted by the UK Forum for International Education and Training (UKFIET), discussed the topic of accountability in education sectors across the world.

Describing the 'global learning crisis', speakers from the WDP and GEM reports as well as non-government organisation (NGO) and civil society organisation (CSO) panellists widely agreed there is a need for urgent systematic change as well as acceptance of joint responsibility from education stakeholders.

Presentations by Deon Filmer, co-director of the WDP 2018, and William Smith from the UNESCO GEM Report team framed the discussion. Their presentation videos as well as videos from the panel are available in a summary of the event written by Dr Rolleston on the UKFIET blog.

The latest World Development Report, 'Learning to Realize Education's Promise', is the first issue to be released which focuses entirely on education.
