The recent rise in evidence-informed education policy and practice has included the emergence of well-designed, large, quasi-experimental studies.
Sir Kevan Collins will talk discuss examples of the ways in which this approach has engaged the English education system, and involved schools in new relationships with the academic community. These initiatives have captured and evaluated innovative practice, tested existing practice and encouraged professional collaboration. However, this change should not be seen as irreversible, and nor is it guaranteed to improve pupil outcomes. Rather, it is the response of school leaders to the evidence they access which will determine the impact of this trend.
