4th International Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) Conference 

Wednesday 8th June, 2022 - UCL, UK

The International CST Conference and networking event will take place on Wednesday 8th June (please note this differs from the originally advertised date). It will include a morning of oral presentations on CST delivered by a global range of professionals and academics. This will be followed by a networking lunch and an afternoon of small-group interactive workshops. The event will primarily be face-to-face, with the option of joining virtually for the morning presentations.

There will also be a CST training at UCL on Tuesday 7th June from 10:00-16:00 BST. Attendance will be face-to-face with a maximum of 30 people.

This course aims to give learners an overview of how to deliver CST. Training is interactive, involving group exercises, role-play and video observation as well as some ‘teaching’.

The training is led by Dr Gemma Ridel, a clinical psychologist currently working with people with dementia in Norfolk. She also lectures on the University of East Anglia Clinical Psychology Doctoral Programme. Gemma has extensive experience of teaching, supervising, running CST groups and delivery CST training.

The training is led by Dr Helen Donovan, a consultant clinical psychologist who has held senior positions since 2004 in the NHS in Bedfordshire & Luton including developing and providing services to people with dementia. Helen has been involved in CST and Maintenance CST research projects with UCL and has extensive experience of supervising and delivery of CST groups, and providing CST training in the UK and internationally.

Exploring CST Event

Do you practice Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) in your organisation? Would you like to share best practice and hear from people delivering CST from around the region?

Attend the Dudley and Walsall Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust 'Exploring CST Event', where there will be a number of presentations and case studies from people who deliver CST and there will also be an opportunity to hear about the benefits from people who live with dementia. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Seminar on Dementia Intervention in a Low-resources Area: The Example of Cognitive Stimulation Therapy in Africa by Professor Richard Walker.
9th October 2018 (15:30 - 17:00) - Hong Kong University, Hong Kong

Professor Richard Walker is a Consultant at North Tyneside General Hospital and Honorary Professor of Ageing and International Health at Newcastle University. Professor Walker will deliver a talk on his experience of adapting and piloting CST in sub-Saharan Africa.

3rd International Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) Conference 
10-11th June 2019 - Missouri, USA

Saint Louis University Gateway Geriatric Education Center hosted the 3rd International CST Conference in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. One-hundred and forty people representing 11 countries attended the 2-day event which included eight main presentations and nine two-hour workshops. CST founders Professors Aimee Spector, Martin Orrell and Bob Woods attended and gave presentations on the use of CST around the world and how to enhance CST using technology. The second day of the conference included CST training for professionals and students interested in facilitation by Prof Spector and a track for experienced CST facilitators by Prof Berg-Weger.

The Missouri CST Team would like to thank all our colleagues, especially those who shared their CST expertise and experience, who joined us in St. Louis for this extraordinary gathering of professionals committed to CST. We look forward to future collaborations and opportunities for networking. Prof Berg-Weber
