The speakers will investigate the multiple facets of Jewish migration in the formation of the contemporary Jewish world. This conversation will focus on early modern as well as more recent encounters of Jews leaving, fleeing, and settling in new places. It thus offers a historical reflection on the current refugee crisis. It will reflect on the eastern European encounter as well as the fate of central European Jewries under the threat of National Socialism.
