Ed Gaffney is Professor of International Law and Genocide Studies at Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana (USA).

He served there as Dean for seven years. He is trained in law, history and theology, with advanced degrees from the Gregorian University (Rome), Catholic University of America, and Harvard University.

He co-founded The Journal of Law and Religion and served on its editorial board for over 25 years. He is a regular participant in the Annual Conference of Holocaust Scholars, and has participated as counsel of record on behalf of Holocaust survivors, art historians, and Jewish community organizations in numerous cases in American courts involving claims of restitution of Nazi-looted art.

He is the Producer-Director-Writer of Empty Boxcars, a feature-length documentary film about the Shoah in Bulgaria and the territories it occupied during World War II in Greece and Macedonia (former Republic of Yugoslavia).
