LIS student awarded Antony Davis Book Collecting Prize

Durrell Collection

Congratulations to Alex Plane, who is studying for her MA in library and Information Studies, who has won this year’s Anthony Davis Book Collecting Prize! https://blogs.ucl.ac.uk/special-collections/2020/07/09/results-announced-for-anthony-davis-book-collecting-prize-2020/

There were an astonishing 64 applications from students at universities across London, with longlisting, shortlisting, and interview stages; Alex’s achievement is all the more impressive for taking place under lockdown conditions. The judges included representatives from the Antiquarian Booksellers’ Association, the Bibliographical Society, Senate House Library who hosted the prize last year, and UCL Special Collections who hosted the prize for the first time this year, as well as Anthony Davis who set up the competition.

Alex will be presenting her collection, introduced by Anthony Davis himself, at the Rare-Books Club on Tuesday 14 July, 1-2pm: ‘Books that built a zoo: collecting the works of Gerald Durrell’ -  https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/ucl-rare-books-club-anthony-davis-book-collecting-prize-winner-tickets-111020996790 . Other finalists will be presenting their collections later in the series.

Congratulations, Alex!
