Diagnostics

Identifying, diagnosing, and tracking disease.

UCL has several laboratories that provide dedicated biochemical, genetics diagnostics and immunology services for both rare and common disease.

GOSH Laboratory Medicine
Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) has a strong history in developing and supporting diagnostic and clinical innovation. The laboratories both lead and support internally led research projects as well as providing services for externally hosted research.

GOSH Regional Genetics Lab
The Genetics Laboratories offer comprehensive constitutional chromosome analysis; diagnostic, carrier and predictive testing; DNA banking services; non-invasive prenatal diagnosis and is nationally commissioned to provide specialised diagnostic services for Bardet-Biedl syndrome, craniosynostoses, lysosomal storage disorders and severe combined immunodeficiencies.

North Thames NHS Genomic Medicine Centre
The North Thames NHS Genomic Medicine Centre (NTGMC) has been set up to help gain a better understanding of the genetic causes of cancer and rare disease. It is part of the Government's 100,000 Genomes Project which aims to sequence, or analyse, 100,000 genomes from participants with cancer, rare disorders and infectious diseases. The NTGMC is currently one of eleven regional Genomic Medicine Centres in England.
