Potted Pyroxenes: Chemical Analysis of White Slip Wares from Bronze Age Cyprus.Helen Hatcher (Reading University) White Slip wares are found extensively on Bronze Age sites of Cyprus,
the Levant and the Egyptian delta; in fact, they are regarded almost as
one of main indicators for the Late Bronze Age (between about 1550 and
1150 BC). Previous research suggests they are made from weathered gabbros
of the Troodos in Cyprus; stylistic analysis distinguishes several classes
of 'milk bowls' largely based on their painted decoration. Can chemical
analysis help to locate the source(s) more precisely? |
