Bowl

The decoration on this bowl shows a girl propelling a boat through a papyrus marsh. The girl appears to be nearly naked, except for a necklace and girdle. On the boat with her is a seated spotted calf. This scene is symbolic of rebirth and regeneration and so bowls like this one were placed in burials of the time. The exterior of the bowl is undecorated but has a series of ticks around the rim. Much of the surface of the bowl is discoloured from burning or exposure to heat and it has been repaired in modern times.
