Martin Wedlake

Deputy Director of Strategy and Operations

As Deputy Director of Strategy and Operations, Martin ensures the activity of UCL’s Office of the Vice-Provost (Advancement) is strategic, co-ordinated and effective. Martin leads a team of 20 who work across areas including; planning and performance, talent attraction and development, projects and partnerships, and supporter operations.

Martin joined UCL in 2015, having previously gained extensive experience working in fundraising and operations management roles in national charities and in the arts sector. This includes nine years at VSO, the international development charity, where Martin led on fundraising operations and customer care, and a change management role at Teenage Cancer Trust that enabled the charity to support a period of substantial growth. In addition, Martin has also held roles at Action on Hearing Loss and Tate.

Martin currently serves on the editorial board of the Ross-CASE survey, which reports annually on the philanthropic performance of European higher education institutions.
