About the Organisation
The Law Corner was founded with a twofold vision in mind. One is to provide local residents of limited means with high quality and timely legal advice. The other is to provide a point of access for students and volunteers to learn more about the practice of law and build a network among like-minded peers.
The Law Corner team includes solicitors and barristers working in London as well as students, professionals and interns with a background or interest in law.

About the Role
The Law Corner offers university students the opportunity to perform internships during which they will assist the volunteer solicitor/barristers with various matters. Typical responsibilities include legal research, client interviews, case administration and drafting.
Another important aspect of the Law Corner is creating a space (open to all) to explore and discuss deeper questions relating to the legal profession. Previous examples include taking part in an international research project and hosting a workshop on the rights of nature in partnership with the Living Centre. If you are interested in getting involved with similar projects, you are more than welcome to if and when the opportunity arises during the internship.
Applicants the Law Corner looks for are those who share its vision, are intrinsically motivated, eager to learn and are able to organise their time efficiently.
Venue for Volunteer Work
The Law Corner has a base near Kings Cross at the Living Centre, just behind the British Library. However, as a result of the pandemic much, if not all, of its work has be undertaken remotely and will continue to be remote for the internship. The Law Corner hopes to slowly transition towards more in person work and often holds a few events during the internship, but most of its volunteers work remotely and so will always remain flexible and mostly online.
Time and Student Commitment:
The work is flexible and experience has shown that student interns are expected to work around 3 to 5 hours a week. Much depends on the work of the volunteers you are assisting and the Law Corner's current caseload. All of the Law Corner team currently volunteer remotely, alongside full-time work, which reflects in the more flexible and part-time nature of the internship.
Training and Supervision Provided:
During the placement, students will be supervised by Law Corner volunteer solicitors and barristers.
Students will also be asked to watch a series of skills based short training videos provided by the Centre for Access to Justice prior to beginning their placement.
There are also periodic online trainings provided by LawWorks which Law Corner encourages students to attend.
Eligibility
This opportunity is open to 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year LLB students as well as LLM students.
There are four spaces available.
