Dr. Muhammad Khandaker

Muhammad R. A. Khandaker (S’10-M’13) received his PhD degree in electrical and computer engineering from Curtin University, Australia, in 2013. He is now an Assistant Professor in the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences at Heriot-Watt University. From July 2013 to June 2018, he worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at University College London (UCL), United Kingdom.

Dr. Khandaker started his career as a Jr. Hardware Design Engineer for Visual Magic Corporation Limited (VMCL-BD) in November 2005. He joined as a Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IBAIS University, Dhaka, Bangladesh, in January 2006. In November 2007, he joined as a Lecturer in the Department of Information and Communication Technology of Mawlana Bhasani Science and Technology University, Bangladesh. Then he joined as a Lecturer in the Institute of Information Technology, Jahangirnagar University, Dhaka, Bangladesh, in January 2008. He was awarded the Curtin International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (CIPRS) for his PhD studies in 2009. He also received the Best Paper Award at the 16th Asia-Pacific Conference on Communications, Auckland, New Zealand, 2010.

He regularly serves in the Technical Program Committees (TPCs) of top international conferences (including IEEE Globecom, IEEE ICC, IEEE VTC, EUSIPCO, and IEEE ISSPIT). He is currently serving as an Associate Editor of EURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking as well as the Lead Guest Editor of the special issue on Heterogeneous Cloud Radio Access Networks (H-CRANs) of the same journal. He also served as the Managing Guest Editor of a special issue on Self-Optimizing Cognitive Radio Technologies of the Elsevier journal Physical Communication.
