Meta-analysis of 8 historical-control trials showed a 68% reduction in risk of death-> an effect of bias -> 12 contemporary randomised trials showed no benefit.

We have shown in a meta-analysis of 12 randomised trials that chemotherapy does not improve survival. Current evidence does not support neoadjuvant chemotherapy for oesophageal cancer.
