Student statistics

Student statistics data provides information on the composition of UCL's student body in both single year tables and time series tables. Current and historical data is provided as far back as 1995-96.

Update to Student Data activities due to Covid-19

The Student data team will continue to process statutory returns, freedom of information request and developmnent work. However, the team in no longer contactable via phone - please arrange contact the team by email to arrange remote meeting via Microsoft Teams.

All data is captured and presented as at 1 December of the relevant academic year. Any period of enrolment after that point, for example January starting affiliates, are not included. The data tables on this page are updated in January of each year.

The figures are a headcount, not FTEs, and should not be used to estimate any form of teaching effort. For example, in the case of joint programmes, students are only counted under their department of home enrolment. The tables and diagrams provide consistent year on year comparators, but should not be used as a source of data for resource bidding whether for cash, space, library or computing allocations.

In order to comply with GDPR requirements about anonymising data, all counts of people have been rounded up to the nearest multiple of 5.
