Research Summary
Peter Davies's recent work has looked at a reinvigoration of the legacies of minimalism, post minimalism and conceptualism from a contemporary perspective through intense making processes which result in visually restrained aesthetics. This is in marked contrast to previous work which consisted of a number of ongoing series' of paintings all of which shared similarities yet differences to one another and heralded an upbeat multi coloured sensibility
Recent exhibitions include The Making of Art, Schirn Kunsthalle, Frankfurt; Starstruck: Contemporary Art and the Cult of Celebrity, The New Art Gallery, Walsall; The Epoch of Perpetual Happiness, The Approach, London, and Art curated by Michael Craig-Martin at Galerie Haas and Fuchs, Berlin, The Indiscipline of Painting at Tate St Ives and The Mead Gallery University of Warwick. And forthcoming solo exhibition, Invocation The Approach, London November 2012.
