Based in London and Helsinki

I am a painter and sculptor working mainly with paper to create dramatic and yet delicate spacial interventions. My surfaces are built from composites of paper or wooden struts continually dismantled and rebuilt. The works expand from the wall, wrapping and spiralling to form interior voids, enclosures and passageways. Here the paintings pose questions about the nature and possibilities of surface: a painting existing along a sculptural line, drawing an enclosure, turned in away from the viewer. I am fascinated by the ways that we construct our environment, occupy it, and navigate it. I map the city by walking, following footpaths and seeking out the unsense and the inaccessible: enclosures, boundaries, alleyways, the overlooked and awkward inbetweens. How do we sit as citizens within the infrastructure of our world? How do we uphold it and how do we rebel?
