Andrea Caflisch

Andrea is a MPhil/PhD student at UCL’s Department of Political Science and School of Public Policy, and holds a Clara Collet Scholarship.

Biography

Andrea is a MPhil/PhD student at UCL’s Department of Political Science and School of Public Policy, where he holds a Clara Collet Scholarship. His research, carried out under the supervision of Prof Alexandra Hartman and Prof Nils Metternich, focuses on the role of inclusivity in post-conflict transitions, the politics of voluntary and forced migration, and the impact of economic deprivation and violence on political behaviour. This work is informed by several years of professional experience with the International Organization for Migration in humanitarian emergencies, including in South Sudan, Ethiopia and Haiti. 
 
Andrea holds an MSc in Security Studies from UCL and a BA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Oxford. His MSc thesis on the heterogeneous effects of weather shocks on inter-ethnic inequality in Sub-Saharan Africa earned the Political Science Departmental Prize in 2018.
