Southern Rail strike: January examinations advice

9 December 2016

Southern Rail have advised that planned industrial action will result in significant disruption to their train services this December, and in January.

Southern Rail strike: January examinations latest advice Southern and Gatwick Express services will be affected on a number of dates between 13 December 2016 and 14 January 2017.

Please refer to the Southern Rail website for specific information regarding these planned strikes.

This disruption will affect both staff and students, and while we expect that most student services will continue to operate as normal there may be limited service in certain areas due to under-staffing.

January examinations

It is intended that all examinations scheduled during the January strike action will take place at the times and in the venues indicated on your individual timetables, and you should make every effort to attend the examination on time.

If you arrive more than 30 minutes after the start time for the examination, you will be subject to the late arrivals procedure as detailed in the Examination Guide for Candidates which means that you will not be permitted entry to the hall but will be directed to your parent department.

Where there are departmental tests, including oral and practical examinations, scheduled for the affected date, you should contact the parent and/or teaching departments for further information.

You should allow extra time to get to the venues and are advised to visit the Transport for London website or National Rail website for information about alternative routes and other general travel advice in order to plan your journey in advance.
