Flexible working on day of EU Referendum (23 June)

16 June 2016

Next Thursday, on 23 June, Britain will vote on its membership of the European Union.

Euro flag For the first time in 41 years, we can vote on whether or not the UK stays in the European Union.

It is of course a matter for each individual to decide how they wish to vote and on the implications for themselves, their family and the country as a whole.

Many have expressed views on the pros and cons of remaining in or leaving the EU. Most recently, the President and Provost of UCL, Professor Michael Arthur, along with two other leaders of UK universities, has expressed his views on the issue in the latest edition of The Conversation which is an independent source of news and views, sourced from the academic and research community.

I would like to urge you all to vote in the referendum. Line managers are encouraged to allow staff to arrive an hour later or leave an hour earlier than usual in order that they have sufficient time to get to their polling station. Please let your manager know if you intend to do this.  Polling stations are open from 7am to 10pm and you do not need to take your polling card, just photographic ID.

If you do not know where your polling station is, the website www.wheredoivote.co.uk will have that information for you on the day.
