Watch: UCLU Christmas Charity Concert
19 December 2011
UCL staff and students along with local school children gathered together on 6 December for UCL’s 2011 Charity Concert in the Quad.
They enjoyed workshops and performances by UCLU Clubs and Societies, all in aid of Centrepoint, a charity which works with young homeless people to give them advice, a hot meal and even a hostel for the night.
James Skuse, Democracy and Communications Officer, UCLU, said: “I’ve been responsible for organising today’s charity concert in the quad, which is an annual event where we bring together societies, staff, kids, local community, have a bit of a sing along. There is a market, mulled wine; it’s just a really good way to get into the Christmas spirit.”
“This year I have chosen to donate all the proceeds to Centrepoint, which is a charity which helps kids who are homeless. I hope we’ll be able to make a real difference with all the money raised today”, Skuse added.
Keeping with the Christmas spirit, on the 13th December, the UCL Chamber Music Club Choir and Orchestra, conducted by Jack Smith, performed at the Grand Christmas Concert.
