  • The UCL Slade School of Fine Art is holding an event entitled 'Buy Art for Japan' to raise money for victims of the recent disaster in the country. A ticket will cost £20 and every ticket will purchase a piece of art.

The ticket purchased will take the form of a raffle voucher that is drawn from a box at random. The buyer is then the owner of the donated piece of art corresponding to the ticket number.

Andrew Stahl (UCL Slade) explained: "We believe we can really support people in Japan through this amazing value sale of art produced by artists or students working or associated with the Slade. Many Slade students and Staff are giving a piece of art that they have made that can be easily carried away."

"The UCL Slade School regularly produces extremely important and influential world famous artists. This is an opportunity to own a unique piece of art by a Slade associated artist or student while contributing to a good cause."

All the money raised from the event will go to the Japanese Red Cross to help the victims of the recent disaster.

Buy Art for Japan will take place throughout the day from 10.30am on Wednesday 23 March in the North Cloisters.
