Rev. Coventry Payne

1794 - 1849

Biography

Son of Sir John Payne bart. (q.v.), who left him an annuity of £500 p.a. secured on the family estates on St Kitts other than Sandy Point. Around the time of the marriage of his brother Sir Charles Payne (also q.v.) in 1835 the Rev. Coventry Payne reportedly exchanged a lifetime annuity of £500 secured on the West Indian property for the same amount secured on Tempsford. Rev. Coventry Payne succeeded his brother in the baronetcy (which title was not uncontroversial) in 1841.
