Joseph Leacock Esq.

Owner of Mount Brevitor. In a List of inhabitants of St Peter, Barbados, 1780, Leacock was listed as owning 116 enslaved. Leacock died in 1817.

1. Marriage 13/02/1808 "at St. George's Queen-square, London, Joseph Leacock, esq. of the Island of Barbadoes, to Miss Catharine Bennet Rashleigh, youngest daughter Thomas Rashleigh, esq. of Blackheath."

2. Will of Joseph Leacock of St Peter Barbados proved 19/03/1818. In the will he said he planned to make a voyage to England. He instructed the sale of his Mount Brevitor estate, and he left the proceeds plus anything he inherited under the will of his uncle William Harris of New Allsford Co. of Southampton to be divided into 1/8th shares, one of which was to go to his wife Catherine Bennett, two of which were to go to his son William Harris Leacock, and one to each of his five daughters. If his family died, his legatees were a group of relatives in Barbados and England.
